As a child, one of my favorite activities was coloring. Getting a brand new box of Crayola crayons with their perfectly flat tops was so beyond exciting! There were so many days spent laying in the floor coloring and seeing the joy on the parents & grandparents faces when we gave our precious pictures to them. As an adult I still enjoying coloring with my kids. I can remember laying in the floor with my now 8-year-old and coloring with him in a gigantic Halloween coloring book when he was 2 or 3. I do the same with my 4-year-old, but he prefers for me not to “help” him and color on my own page.
I came across an article about the boom of adult coloring and thought “hmmm, why haven’t I thought to look for adult coloring books before?!” So, I did. I got on Amazon and searched for The Secret Garden coloring book that was mentioned in the article and it was my first purchase!
Along with Johanna Basford’s book, I purchased Adult Coloring Book ~ Stress Relieving Patterns and a brand new box of 50 colored pencils just for me. I will have to admit, it’s been a few months since I made this purchase and although I had all intents and purposes of utilizing these, I have yet to color a single page. I honestly think it can be beneficial and it seems to be making the rounds in social circles with several “adult coloring nights” being held at various coffee shops and bookstores. I am not sure if there is anything like that locally here, but I can just imagine having some friends over, making some coffee and treats, and coloring the night away while we chit-chat and laugh.
There are a million different adult coloring books on the market, but I came across this Christmas themed one and had to have it. There are a ton of different images inside, as well as word art that can be framed and used to decorate with. Seeing it just makes me want to make some hot cocoa or apple cider and sit by the fire with my new colored pencils!
So tell me, do you do any adult coloring? Have you attending any kind of coloring events? I would love to hear about it!
