In ONE MONTH we will be headed to The Happiest Place on Earth and I could not possibly be more excited! The kids know we are going but I don’t think they grasp the concept since they’ve never been so they aren’t really excited yet. A month is still a long time for a little kid, too.
So of course, in preparation I have been researching and shopping like crazy. I have decided that we will take a backpack and take turns carrying it if need be. There are just far too many things we will need to fit in just a small crossbody. There are a lot of blogs and sites out there that discuss what all you need to carry with you at all times in the parks. Everyone is different and these are just suggestions, but I did end up getting quite a few of them.
From Amazon I decided to purchase several of the items I saw on a few different sites. I didn’t buy EVERYTHING people mentioned but I did get quite a lot. It’s probably overkill, but it’s the first time taking the kids so I have NO idea what we will need and what we won’t. I bought Frog Toggs to keep cool, Moleskin to help with blisters, retractable Sharpie markers for autographs, a foldable duffle bag to bring back all our souvenirs in, lanyards for the kids, liquid bandage, and Disney themed table toppers. We already have water bottles to bring, a multi-outlet plug for charging, a compact umbrella, etc. I do need to get some ponchos, though!
I probably went a little crazy buying things on Etsy, but all the Disney themed stuff is SO cute! I figured Kaden was a bit old for the applique shirts with his name on them, but surprisingly enough he picked one out for himself!
These cute shirts I bought for Hollywood Studios and they came from Makin Memories Fun.
Both boys also wanted a tie-dye Mickey shirt, so I found a shop that would let you choose your own colors. I asked for a combo of blues and greens and these are PERFECT! Check out Swirly Sensations if you’re looking for Disney themed tie-dye.
This one is so stinking cute, but I really didn’t think Kaden would wear one so I didn’t even bother letting him see. Kaden can wear something else on the day Cohen wears this one. This one came from Fiesta Kids Boutique and you can even make it a birthday shirt with a number on the back.
I have been trying really hard to think of something different to take for autographs. I had an autograph book as a kid and that works great, but I really wanted something they could use. I found a photo mat idea on Pinterest where you take a white photo mat and let the characters sign it then frame a photo. I couldn’t figure out how to carry that around Disney without it bending or getting all messed up so I nixed that idea. I still might get one and take it to Chef Mickey’s since we are staying in the contemporary. I can just run it back to the room before we leave. I found these white pillowcases with matching nylon backpacks that are PERFECT! Giggles and Lollipops worked with me to find colors and patterns I liked and they are SO cute!
I am also really worried about the possibility of my kids wandering or getting lost in the crowd, so I went off in search of some kind of ID bands they can wear. No, I am not letting them go off alone or PLANNING on letting them out of my sight, but you never know what can happen and I would much rather be prepared. Even at 8 Kaden does not have my phone numbered memorized yet as much as I try to get him to remember it. This way, the number is there, they don’t have to know it, and someone can call us if they find one of our kids. I am praying this doesn’t happen though and that these won’t be needed, but thanks to Little VIP Bandz, we are ready!
So there you go… My crazy Disney preparation photos. I am ready to start packing and planning outfits! I am already checking the weather because I have NO idea what October in Disney will be. I figure it never really gets cold in Florida, so we should be fine in shorts and short sleeves still.
