I ran my first 5k last month in the Mississippi State Games. I beat my goal time, but I was still slow. I am hoping to get faster and be able to beat my time the next 5k I run. I am planning on running 2 more as of right now – The Moonlight Run and the Asurion’s Day of Caring. I have one month to get ready for the Moonlight Run. I have been running at least once a week, but I really try to aim for 2-3 times per week. It’s hard with school being out, though, both kids are home with me and I either have to get a babysitter or wait on my hubby to get home. It’s so freaking hot and humid here that it feels like I’m suffocating if I don’t wait until almost dark to go. I am still enjoying it, though! I am actually looking forward to my running and I was disappointed I didn’t get to run while on vacation for the 4th. I even packed my shoes and running clothes! I really hope I can get faster and be able to run longer before I need to walk. I just don’t think summer in MS is the time for me to really worry about that. Hopefully the fall and winter will be easier for me to improve!
