There are a lot of sites that I am addicted to, Goodreads being one of them. I love that you can see what your friends are reading, look at ratings and reviews of books before you read them, follow authors and see what they are reading, and enter giveaways.
I am on Goodreads at least once a day, but usually more than that. I am never NOT reading a book. I mainly use Goodreads to update my progress and it helps to know what page I am on if I don’t use a bookmark while I am reading. Secondary to my progress, I use it to see what my close friends are reading and what they are rating books in the genres that I enjoy. I usually choose my next book based on what someone else has recently read and whether it has been rated 3 stars or more.
You can break down all your books into different “shelves” on your profile. They give you a READ, TO-READ, and CURRENTLY-READING shelf with the options to add many other shelves. My favorite shelf has to be my summer-reads shelf. I absolutely love beachy books and look forward to buying new ones every summer! My favorite summer authors are Mary Kay Andrews, Nancy Thayer, and Elin Hilderbrand.
With that being said, I think my favorite feature on Goodreads is the giveaways. I have won 15 books since I discovered giveaways in April 2012. Sometimes they are signed, sometimes they come with extra goodies, but regardless, they are free books and who doesn’t love a freebie?!? My latest win is the new Candace Bushnell novel, “Killing Monica.”
If you’re on Goodreads, what do you use it for? Who are some of your favorite authors?
